Score With Higher Self

"Self Esteem - How It Directly Effects Your Success In Life" By Rebecca Osborn

What is Self Esteem?

Self Esteem is the emotion of feeling that you have toward yourself. It is the limiting factor on your performance, because your performance will never exceed your self esteem. Your self esteem is not always the same, it fluctuates depending on a range of different things, how successful you are, how you cope with failures etc..
How important is Self Esteem?

How you see yourself is very important especially if you want to be find happiness in life. As said above, your performance will never exceed your self esteem, therefore how you view yourself limits what you will attempt.

Henry Ford put it perfectly 'If you think you can, or you think you can't, you are probably right.'
Self esteem is extremely important but why is it and how does it affect you?

1. Self esteem is closely linked to your success. Have you ever noticed that people that live a successful life usually have a good self image?

2. Your self esteem affects how you present yourself. Your body language says so much about your self image. Observe the next person that walks by you. If they are walking slowly with their head down low, dragging their feet, wearing old clothes, with a shabby hair cut, it is a picture that speaks volumes about their self confidence. They do not look confident. Yet, observe a successful business man, he walks with confidence in his Gucci suit, holding his head up high, facing the world straight on.

3. Low self esteem will cause you to under-estimate your abilities and you will expect to fail. What would you drop everything for tomorrow if you were gauranteed you would succeed at it? When you have low confidence, you expect to fail and so it hinders you attempting anything new.

4. Low self esteem can lead to depression, indecision and inaction. When you think lowly of yourself, it can lead to depression. When you do not really know what you want in life, you become indecisive. When you cannot make a decision, you become inactive, leading to more depression and the cycle continues.

5. Working on your self esteem is always time well spent - few people have permanently high self esteem.

So now you know what self esteem is, how do you increase your self esteem so that you have the confidence to do the things you have always wanted to, to ask for the pay rise in work, to confront situations with boldness.

Here's a few tips on how to increase your level of self-esteem:

1.Do not procrastinate!

2.Set realistic goals

3.Help others succeed

4.Ask for what you want

5.Affirmations
